DID YOU KNOW….

The Village offers several 50/50 reimbursement programs designed to help residents make improvements that support sustainability and protect the natural beauty of our community. These programs are available during the Village’s fiscal year, from May 1 through April 30, and funding is offered on a first come, first served basis. It is a great opportunity for residents to make meaningful improvements to their property while also helping care for our local environment.

Available programs include reimbursement for culvert replacement materials, rain barrels and compost bins, shoreline stabilization plantings, and tree replacement. These initiatives are a thoughtful way for the Village to encourage environmentally friendly practices while helping homeowners invest in their properties and our community as a whole. MORE INFO

There is something about spring that makes people want to throw open the windows, let the fresh air in, and start clearing things out.

There is something about spring that makes people want to throw open the windows, let the fresh air in, and start clearing things out. Maybe it is the longer days, the sunshine, or just the feeling that winter has finally loosened its grip, but spring has a way of making a fresh start feel possible. That is part of why spring cleaning became such a thing in the first place. After months of being cooped up inside with heavy blankets, muddy shoes, and all the little messes that collect during winter, this season naturally feels like the right time to reset. Long ago, it was also one of the first chances people had to truly air out and deep clean their homes after a cold winter.

But spring cleaning is about more than dusting shelves and organizing closets. It taps into something deeper. Cleaning out a space can feel a lot like clearing your mind. It gives you a sense of energy, calm, and maybe even a little momentum to step into a new season feeling lighter. It is not really about having a perfect home. It is about creating a space that feels good to live in, one that reflects the hopefulness that spring seems to bring with it every year.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Lindenhurst recently had a proud moment in the spotlight as Police Chief Melinda Linas was featured on WGN’s Spotlight Chicago as “First Responder of the Month.”

In the segment, she shared more about her journey in law enforcement, what the recognition means to her, and her commitment to supporting the health and wellness of police officers. It is always nice to see someone who serves our community with such dedication be recognized in such a meaningful way.

This honor also included a $1,000 donation in Chief Linas’s name to the 100 Club of Illinois, which supports first responders and their families. It is a well deserved recognition and a wonderful reminder of the strong leadership and service we are so lucky to have here in Lindenhurst. Watch Video

The spring market is officially awake. For the past year or two, a lot of homeowners hit pause, waiting for interest rates to drop back to “the good old days.” That big stall in movement? It’s fading. Buyers have adjusted to today’s rates, life hasn’t slowed down, and people still need to move. We’re seeing serious buyers back in the market, multiple offers becoming common again, and well-priced homes selling over asking. The buyers who sat on the sidelines are stepping in, and the ones who are prepared are moving quickly. If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” moment, this spring is proving that momentum has returned.
