I met Camille Johnson through a mutual friend, a blind date of sorts, and we hit it off from the start. What can I say... it was love at first sight. LOL. I instantly knew I had to write this article. Although it was only 11am, we shared a bottle of Rose' together (her go to drink) and she told me stories of how they got started, client satisfaction and the struggles of owning a business. Something I know all to well.
I was amazed at the passion she had to make a difference in an industry that has become "muddy". She wanted to create a company that would blossom above everyone else. This was the reason she chose the Lotus Flower as the name of her company.
You see, the Lotus flower is a symbol of rebirth because it is born from the mud on the bottom of the pond. The stem grows towards the surface until the beautiful flower blooms on the surface. Although it looks delicate, it is very strong. We have all been there. That point in life where we feel we have reached rock bottom. Living in the darkness and somehow we find the strength to rise to the sun, at which point we bloom into who we are today. Looking back, we realize that we had to endure the darkness to get to the light. Lotus Home Improvement is a one stop shop providing you exceptional service that works to earn your business and build a relationship with you. To be the flower in an industry of mud.
The beginning was planned yet unexpected. Camille and her husband Marcus are entrepreneurs at heart. They knew they wanted to start a company in this industry, but knew they needed to learn the ins and outs. While Marcus focused on his practice as a Chiropractor, Camille went to work for a Building Supply Company. During this time she was able to network with area contractors to not only learn the problems with the industry but she was able to hand pick an exceptional team to partner with on their new endeavor.
Although they were ready to move forward, a decision this big is not only scary but risky. Some might call it divine intervention, but one day Marcus was notified that the practice he worked for was shutting down unexpectedly. Some may have become depressed and sunk into the darkness, but Camille and Marcus knew this was the push they needed to finally move forward. That is when Lotus Home Improvement blossomed.
You can check out their website at www.lotushomeimprovement.com They are located right here in Lindenhurst, Illinois.
Also, Lotus Home Improvement has asked me to partner with them on a monthly series called DIWine. Each month we will offer a DIY reclaimed project as well as some wine and teach women about that month's construction component. This gives us the chance to make construction classy again while saving the environment, learning and having fun.
Our first event will take place on September 21 and the topic will be windows. We will decorate reclaimed windows and turn them into decorate art for the home. GET TICKETS
